The approach

Development
is the difference.

Applying the discipline of Hollywood studio development to international feature films, with respect for each project’s voice, language and audience.

The problem

A distinctive voice deserves a film that delivers on its promise. Yet the pressure to assemble financing and move into production can leave the hardest story questions unresolved. Those questions become more expensive to answer once cameras are rolling.

The misdiagnosis

Budget and access to talent matter, but they cannot explain every film’s success or failure. Treating scale as the answer can obscure a more useful question: does the story work, and does it connect with the audience it is trying to reach?

A different approach

Development creates room to test those questions before production. Fair Sense brings an outside perspective to story, structure and character, helping distinguish the underlying problem from its symptoms. The aim is to sharpen the filmmaker’s intention and make it legible on the page.

From concept to shooting draft

The work starts with what the film wants to be. Each stage of development should bring its dramatic purpose into clearer focus, so that creative decisions serve a coherent whole. An international perspective can broaden a project’s possibilities while preserving what makes it specific.
